Burn it down till the embers smoke on the ground

Melina had been veryimpatient this past month. Everyone who had ever looked at the tabloids, television or listened to the radio, knew who Aura Dawning was. Only the biggest, best singer on Faraway Island. She had her face everywhere, skin cream products, perfumes, singing Barbie dolls. Anything you could name, it was on a store rack, waiting for fame-hungry girls and boys who just couldn't get enough. Melina knew the business. It took a chimpanzee to understand success but it took a top tier being to bring millions to success, bending and forming, giving life, to the human culture itself. It was a simple concept really, a push in the right direction, spreading ideas in many different places and watching them reach the other side of the world. Humans were quaint little things really, you just couldn't keep one quiet for much long. No amount of fear, pain or amnesia would seem to do the trick, humans spread news faster than they did disease it seemed and at that point she decided that it would be used to her advantage, creating a entirely new concept which would be hers to own. as time went by, it seemed as if there were so many people trying to get into the public eye that she just couldn't/didn't want to handle them all. Her own creation had a life of its own and would last on for decades on end. She of course still helped those star hungry souls but the price was always the same. Their liberty.
She stalked down the hallway, security lining themselves against the wall, removing themselves out of her way. They had been re-taught to line up on the wall just last week when a new "recruit" had tried to "work his way up the ladder", pressing his hand against her shoulder. The guy looked too young to die, but then again, she could have said the same for herself. Since then, they had learned to put all the new guys in the middle of the hallway so they could be fairly warned by the time she got there. Their gaze shifting to each other rather than her, as if cornered against the walls though there was enough space for a truck to pass by. Some of the newer recruits gawking at the sight of the woman that had left a scar on the hotel. Acid-eaten carpets and walls right by the elevator. The hall was lightly lit as most hotels, the floors tiled and cold. The ventilation so high that the mass of men bulk didn't seem to make the temperature in the room budge at all. The walls painted golden to help the light reflect better decorated with many pricey paintings. Melina didn't even bother knocking on the door as she stepped into room 4510, a bright sunlight burning into her eyes and leaving her with a scowl to start off her day. The blinds were clearly wide open, everything looking happy and gay. The expensive blue walls in the bright sunlight making the room sparkle in harmony. The sight was disgusting to say the least. Melina ignited a spark on the little gold and blue bits that held the curtains away from the windows. This room was very old fashioned, in a sense. It was bright gold and midnight blue, the dark and light contrasting and dancing around in different patters throughout the entire living room of the suite. It suited the pop star princess well. The golden colors really glimmering in the sunlight.
The room had now darkened, In the dark, this was one of Melina's favorite rooms. The blue wall reflecting what little light there was in the room and making the blue overpower the golden shimmer. Grace over beauty. Her sharp heels would have scratched up the flawless floor is it hadn't been for her stepping. Last time she was here, there hadn't been so many flowers decorating the place but now, every vase on every table and counter had been occupied with a dozen of assortments of flowers. It was a shame. the flowers did bring down the overall look of the room. The flowers looked saddened in the darkness as if trying to escape the room but having once again been trapped in darkness. Walking over to a flower assortment that had white and yellows roses, Melina touched the petals, each petal falling off one by one, turning black and withered before even touching the ground.
