Jim was here, standing alone, in the middle of the wonderland replication of the Tugley Woods. See, here in Wonderland, it was actually a mirror of the entire city of Faraway, with minor quirks here and there. For example, some of the buildings in Faraway, would simply be two story-houses here in Wonderland, or the various flowers there would be rather annoying ones here. So pretty much, it was the same, but in a distorted way. Everything. Except for the people. Well, there weren't really any physical people here, since most people who do stay in Wonderland for a very long time end up going insane. Instead, here, you see silhouettes of people walking around. If someone, let's say, the Mayor, was walking around the city of Faraway, by the city fountain, then his silhouette would be in that area of Wonderland the same. It was how Jim, and Kat, knew where everyone was all the time. They could see them.
The boy stood silently, tapping his feet gently before snuggling into his own arms as he felt another cold breeze whiz by him. It was very typical of Kat to do this. Set up a meeting, and then make him wait. He already knew what it was they were going to talk about. Kat had sent him tons of messages about it, but he wasn't sold on the idea. He hardly trusted Kat. Sure, she knew what she was saying, but her methods were very questionable. Deciding that it might take her a while longer, Jim walked up to a tall oak tree a couple of feet away from him, and sat down on one of the protruding roots. Pulling out his iPod and his dark blue earphones, he placed the buds in his ear and began to play the music, hoping that she, wherever the hell she was, would arrive soon.

The only other sound was the quiet chirping of birds. It was true; Wonderland was in many ways, a reflection of the real world. Of Faraway and the homeland of humans. However, humans were mainly forbidden from entering the realm, with the exception of rare occassions - after all, not everyone liked what they saw when they looked into a mirror. It was too dangerous.
A leg, boot-clad to the knee appeared, swinging from the branches just above the good conscience's head. A faint humming sound issued from the bramble before slowly, other body parts began to appear as if from thin air. Perched luxuriously amongst the leaves, her wide-spread toothy grin appearing menacingly before the rest of her facial features, was the one they called "Kat." This woman, looked no younger than eighteen and was dressed in peculiar fashion - much like any other ordinary teenager that would reside in Faraway. But of course, looks could certainly be deceiving in Wonderland.
Eyeing her company with an almost predatory smirk, the dark-haired female opened up her closed palm, eyeing a pebble which appeared there. Still humming her tune, she took aim and dropped the stone, allowing it to bounce off the head of her unknowing companion. She grinned wider still, settling herself comfortably against the wood as Jimmy investigated the source; this was too much fun.
"Looking for something?"
Her voice was teasing against the silence, almost in a sing-song fashion.

Jim tapped his feet in tune with the melody of the song that played, almost feeling the urge to sing along. Of course, he knew better than to do so, though. Singing wasn't one of his strengths, and he would much rather play to what he excels in. Out of nowhere, he felt something hard collide with his head. He let out a rather loud yelp, immediately putting his hand on his head and rubbing it, hoping that no cut was made. Taking off his earphones, Jim stood up from his position and looked up. Not surprised, he saw Kat, lurking just above him, swinging her legs like a child in a playground.
Kat was one of the scariest people that Jim had ever meet. It wasn't just the fact that she could do magic, because he could do that too. It wasn't even the fact that her tales, no matter how hard to believe, always have some sort of insight in them. Rather, it was mostly because she had the most devilishly deceiving look, one that could fool even the greatest of people. It was no surprise to Jim, if he was being honest, why he was "losing". He took a couple of steps back, getting her in clearer view from his line of sight.
"You gonna stay up there all day?" he shouted out to her, throwing his arms sideways, like he was waiting. By the time she got down, Jim had crossed his arms over at his chest, a rather serious expression painted on his face. Taking a deep breath, he swallowed hard before speaking.
"I don't believe you, you know. There's just no way. You underestimate them too much," he told her, his feet now moving on their own, pacing carefully around the area. "Besides. I know you. You're planning something. I can feel it."

"I might. It's actually quite comfortable from up here. You should give it a try sometime. Unless of course you're afraid?"
Rolling her eyes against his surly expression, the girl gave a laugh which, although it was playful, didn't quite meet her eyes. Vanishing slowly and fading into the backdrop, a few seconds passed before she emerged again, standing opposite Jimmy and examining her nails boredly. Unlike most "beings", Kat was in no hurry when it came to anything. After all, with the way things were going in Faraway, her mission was already far more successful than that of little Jimmy's. It had barely taken but a few seductive whispers in the night and some eyelash batting, but it got the job done. And that was all that mattered to her.
Kat let a drawl escape her lips boredly as she noticed the seriousness etched upon the face of her rival. Such a pity. He could look cute if he wasn't all rules and no fun. Shaking her head slowly, she approached him - her feet, although making contact with the soft leaves strewn across the forest bed, making little noise as she did so. She paced around him, eyeing him with interest before stopping and taking a seat upon one of the large roots from the tree. Crossing her legs over and revealing some skin, she listened as he quashed her theories.
"What's there to underestimate? I know the minds of the evil, Crickett Bug. I know just how selfish...how un-cooperative ... they can be. Have you forgotten exactly who you're talking to or did you develop one of those human brain diseases? Alzheimers, is it?"

The boy knew that the more villainous girl had been planning this all along. She was scheming, that was for certain, but apparently, Jim had overlooked her capabilities. All he saw in her was power, and it was something he easily brushed aside. He didn't take into account the motivation. There had to be a reason why she was doing all of this. She never really put more effort than was needed before. So why the change now? He couldn't help but feel that this was just something to start a whole new level of catastrophe.
He stared blankly at her, carefully watching her motions. He couldn't be too careful with this one. She was sneaky. Jim kept his eyes on her, their gazes locked as she paced around him, making sure that he didn't break it. There was so much potential for her, as a partner in crime of sorts. If she transferred all the effort she put in creating chaos to helping out others, then his job would be easier. His eyes drifted lower, the girl revealing a little bit of skin. Trying to act composed, he looked up, though somehow he could feel his attention drawn to other places. He shook his head, snapping himself out of the spell.
"It's not a disease, Ches. Simply a thing called 'faith'. You should really try it sometime." Jim flung himself backwards into the air, and in a split-second motion, a bunch of the fallen leaves clumped up together, transforming into a soft, leather couch. Jim landed with a soft thud, before speaking again to Kat. "Besides, let's say you were right, hypothetically. What then? What you want is unimaginable. I wouldn't say no to some justice here and then, but what you want, it's just stupid, pardon my language."
He then leaned back, getting comfortable as he placed his leg on top of the other, before tucking his arms behind his head. "I'm still not sold on it, Ches. It's too un-thought of. Sorry, can't let you do it."

"What I want?"
Her words spilled from her lips slowly, and she narrowed her eyes slightly, almost cat-like, as she observed her nemesis. Never in her existance had she sought him out of her own free will; never had she needed him. Even now, in order to do this thing, which she believed to be the right move, she didn't need his assistance. Kat was quite capable of managing things on her own - it was just fun to want to include him this time. After all, as much as she had the potential to be good - she cringed inwardly at the thought - he had just the same amount of drive to be bad. There was a fine line, and they were walking it - just like the humans they influenced in Faraway.
"Who said anything about me doing this...for myself?"
Dragging her gaze away from him lucidly, his trick with the leaves failing to impress her as much as it would anyone else, the girl swung her leg to and fro as she crossed it over the other, her fingers fiddling with the hem of her short skirt. Trust Jimmy Rickett to put a dampener on her ideals. Still, there was no smoke without fire. A teasing grin spread itself ominously across her face and she vanished slowly from the spot to reappear on the couch, beside the fellow, a floating head before the rest.
"Oh come on. Lighten up and see things from my perspective for a change", she began to whisper tantilisingly in his ear, her fingers slowly tracing their way up his chest, to stop at his plump cheek, grazing it delicately; the cheshire grin was still very much intact. "Those humans, they need order if they're to survive. Sometimes, faith just isn't enough. By doing what I've been asking, we'll be helping them. Hm?"

Jim couldn't help but scoff at Kat as she grinned over at him. Exactly how dumb did she think he was? "The whole playing innocent thing, it doesn't fit you," he called her out, letting out a casual yawn. It really was a pity that he couldn't get her to be on his side. Them working together would be great, but sadly, they would obviously clash with one another.
Practically rolling her eyes, he let out a grin, watching her reaction. Her figure then slowly disappeared, only to reappear on the couch, right beside him. Though the random appearance of limbs initially freaked him out, years of encounters got him more indifferent to it already. He pushed himself unto the edge of the seat, not wanting to keep himself too close to the girl, not knowing what she might possible do to him.
He fell silent, adjusting his bonnet, now finding himself rethinking his options. Jim really didn't want her to get inside his head. He knew that she had a way with her words, and part of him really couldn't believe that it was somehow working, even on him. It was then when he realized that it wasn't entirely her persuading him, but rather, these thoughts had already been racing in his mind. He bit his lip, curling it before turning back to her. "Helping them, eh? And there's nothing in it for you? Okay, let's say I do things your way. What's my guarantee that you won't...take advantage of the situation?"

When he shifted himself forwards until he came to sit on the edge, keeping his body turned away from her, Kat's grin widened further still. She knew the effect she had upon other beings. Humans, particularly males, were the most susceptible to her charms. However, whether or not they had any effect on someone similiar to herself - from a magical background - had been a mystery.
For the many years she had spent trolling Faraway on opposite sides to Jimmy, she had always wondered but never quite known if her powers stirred up any profound changes in the goody-two-shoes. That was, until now it seemed, judging by the answer she received. He had been very good at closing his mind to her and not allowing himself to be seduced that it only made her more willing to "test" him.
"You want proof? That I won't meddle in the agreement behind your back?"
Kat laughed softly, finishing with a slight hiss. Pushing herself from against the soft cushions of the sofa so that she too was now perched upon the tip of the couch, she lifted a hand and curled her finger in a playful manner - the power of her magic enough to turn his head so that he was facing her now. Her eyes burning a warm amber color now, lip curled at the corner, she leaned towards him slowly, her lips meeting with his. The embrace lasted for what seemed like an eternity, before the woman drew back and licked her lips in an almost cat-like fashion before smirking.
"The kiss. A sign of good faith", she replied with a soft purr to her voice, remembering something that he had said about it, a long time ago. It was all the proof an arch nemesis needed from the likes of her kin.

He wasn't sure what it was with the look she gave him. It was as though she was scheming. Jim could practically see the gears in her head slowly turning. It wasn't until she spoke that he let out a laugh, unable to control himself. If it was Kat, then he was sure that she'd meddle. Proof or no proof. But figuring he'd just throw her a bone anyways, he shrugged his shoulders.
"Fine then. Give me proof," he challenged her.
As though fueled by the confirmation, she began to make her way closer to him. Inching carefully. His eyes were plastered on her, following her every move. It was easy enough for him, since part of him could have sworn that he was moving out of control. His head turned to face her and before he knew it, their lips were locked.
The boy felt lips on his, a warm-saltiness in them. And not knowing what had happened next, he felt himself pushing his lips towards her. He bit her upper lip gently before pulling away form her, realizing what it was that he was doing. He wiped his lips with the back of his palm before making a sound of disgust. "I thought you didn't believe in faith," he called out to her, still not impressed by what she had done. But even then, Jim was a person of his word. Throwing his hair over his head and knowing it might not be a good idea, he said yes.

Kat didn't look at all put-out when he wiped his lips harshly, like he was afraid of getting cooties or something - how childish, she thought. Instead, her face split into the most devious grin as he agreed to her somewhat dangerous plan for Faraway. To be honest, she hadn't expected her charm to work on him, even although for a split-second or two when he first reacted to the surprising smooch, it seemed to do something to him. Hearing his comment about her "not believing in good faith", Kat smiled, getting up from her perch on the seat and softly kicking some pebbles from her path as she paced.
"I believe in order by chaos", she responded with a glint in her cat-like eyes. "It's in my nature darling, don't try to change me. However, I too have been feeling a little...letdown...by the behaviour of some of our toys."
Kat's expression turned quite pensive for a moment, her grin fading to be replaced by a seriousness which made her eyes grow darker, until they were boring into Jimmy's like black tunnels. A darkness which she was aware of - as were some unfortunate folk too - but which rarely seemed to surface. This darkness seemed to corrupt what was usually a very attractive, yet terrifying smile.
