If one were to be looking at the sky in Portlantis that day, the people would have said that they saw a shooting star and that it rained red. Those men and women, however, were completely wrong, and should be thankful for it. Their hearts would have been broken if they had seen what the “shooting star" truly was. It was Merlina, surrounded by a white aura; weeping crimson tears because of the tragedy inside her mind. Why art I losing control? Why art my memories not fading? Who art I becoming? She recalled the occurrence earlier that day. Merlina was reminded, through simply being called “scum,” how toxic she had been to humanity throughout the millennia. Memories of the Hundred Years' War, the demon of Europe – Chernabog, the Black Death, countless amounts of ended lives, and more horrendous deeds flooded her mind and conscience. She snapped. In her rage, she challenged the offender, whom she has known for centuries as the “Mistress of Evil,” to a duel, and decided to show a sample of 'her' lesser known techniques which used magic from the heavens. It has been 168 years since she had last used heavenly arcana; having mainly relied on the arcane arts that specialize in scientific manipulation. Unfortunately, while intending to give the Mistress of Evil a sample of her power, a former love of her life interfered. Taking it as cheating during a duel, in her rage, Merlina took aim at the former love of her life and threw a heavenly spear at the woman. For some reason, the woman did not dodge or halt the spear, and was shockingly impaled, but not killed. Why would she have been killed? She is just as Merlina is; long-lived. Something then happened then that Merlina has not seen from her former love since about six centuries ago; the woman's power to dissolve molecular bonds simply through telekinesis began to surface. While avoiding her attacks, Merlina got careless and got too close to the woman, and began to dissolve. Why doth she not finish the job? Why doth she not let me rotteth in hell where I belong? Merlina was let go, and was now flying to the location of the duel that was to take place in three days Merlina descended at full speed to the surface of the sea, causing a jet-stream on the calm waters. The white waves spread north and south of the line, making the southern tidal-wave crash into Portlantis's side, destroying a few buildings and sweeping a few people away from the shore from sheer force. Blinded by heart-break and confusion, she soared to a small island outside of Portlantis's horizonal view to be away from civilization. Merlina turned upwards ninety degrees and rose towards the sun. She halted and spread her six seraphic wings, causing a six-winged angelic shadow to be cast onto the island. Closing her eyes, filled with those crimson tears, she leaned-foward, and dive-bombed towards the island. Merlina descended directly to the ground of the island at full speed, causing a small crater. Landing with one knee down, her clothing had dissolved from the speed the descension. Her wings outstretched, her left hand palming the cratered ground, blood-soaked tears streaming down her face, Merlina slowly stood up, entranced by her own tragedy. Steadily raising her arms towards the the heavens she began to levitate off the ground. The memories, the memories shalt never fade! At the thought, Merlina let out what could only be described as the wails of the millions of souls that she had erased from the world. Her vocal chords tore, but that did not stop the scream. Trees were torn from the roots and flew against each other into scattered piles. Her once white aura was now an intense yellow, only comparable to the sun; blinding any and all living things unfortunate enough to look her way. Merlina's mind exploded with all the memories of her sins. A thousand years of personal hell. When she ran out of breath, she opened her eyes, soaked with scarlet regret, and slowly returned to the cratered ground. The sky became dark, and rain began to pour, as if the heaven were weeping because of her sins. Exhausted, she lowered onto her knees, slowly put her blood-streamed face to her hands, and began to silently mourn... This continued for the three days... “How you are fallen from heaven”- Isaiah 14:12

Come all the way down, And watch me burn ---------------------------------------------------------- There had now passed three days since a "meteor" had crashed in Portlantis and a duel was demanded. Melina had of course been in many duels throughout her life but there was but a simple comment which had sparked this. The word "scum". It was a rather overused word in her vocabulary toward those who were inadequate or even actual scum of the earth, mere humans. It was rather odd though how that simple word had ticked off the calm and over-bearingly flirty Merlin'a'; maybe there were too many nuts used to hold the bolt on that one. 'It' had after all speared the chest of 'its' former lover in pure power overload. Melina had found it rather interesting that a meteor had hit Portlantis on the same day that Merlina had disappeared from the scene, an angry fit.
Melina, being the curious kitten that she was, followed the lightning-speed winged Natalie Portman; of course the entire effort was actually rather tiresome, Melina was never an expert flyer, having not the need to fly to reach her destination or target, she was always much more of a shadow traveler, it soothed her to be in the dark. An eternity could pass inside the dark and only a few seconds in the world would pass by. The ghoulish screams and yells or murders across the universe and existence, some repeating over and over, scenes of murder, abuse, neglect. It was pure bliss. It was designed to make someone mad, make them dead themselves even, not physically of course but mentally, showing the traveler things that would wear down their entire being bit by bit. This was her way to catch up with the 'meteor' up in the sky, 'its' yellow aura and red fire as it flew really looking like a meteor.
She followed the ball of fire until 'it' crashed and begin to fly upwards, it's power being unable to control itself. After that, Melina had been unable to tell what had gone on, a blast of sound hitting her and knocking her back inside the shadow she had been in. Melina was rather shocked at the wave of sound, she hadn't seen anyone use that trick before, the sound still vibrating in her ears. She pondered in the darkness, the wails soothing her and reassuring her that death was always happier anyway if she ever needed it. It was a heavy toll on any person, strong or godly, to leave; urging all of their mind power to exit the darkness. That was the deadliest part, if it didn't kill you, it embraced you, your mind, your body, it was a part of you and you were with it, never wanting to be apart from the other...It was years before she exited but only but a second had passed in Earthly time. The days went on and with it, the sun as it seemed to rain almost incessantly in the middle of April. Back at Portlantis, Merlina still sat, her knees against the floor and her face weeping. A crow flew at the direction of Merlina's weeping point, circling her around a few times before another crow appeared. They cawed like death was happening before them, endlessly and repetitively, in unison. Soon, many more appeared, joining in the chorus of crows circling high above the sobbing sorcer'ess'. The birds flew lower and lower gradually, a heavy amount of them now, as even more joined in. They landed onto the beach shores of Portlantis, the gloom of the day making them seem even brighter, more alive. the glint in their eyes showing the wisdom in death, the sanity in it and yet, the loneliness in it. They all stared at the 'woman' before them, their eyes showing the pride in their flock.
The birds gathered around in front of the weeping girl. They each soon fell deceased on the ground, about a hundred bodies of beautiful birds now on the floor, their feathers falling off, gracefully so, the wind as if pushing them together to mold a figure, keeping them in place, the bodies fading into nothingness; leaving ashes in their remains. The ashes and feathers molding into the figure of a woman; laying on the floor, her body curled up as if it was being caressed. The wind blew once more, the ashes and feathers going away with the wind now,Melina lay, her eyes closed, her face calm and harmless, serene even. They opened up slowly, her hand pushing against the ground and her body going up and eventually floating to a standing position. Her eyes closed once more as an intake of breath was given to Melina by the generous wind of the day. she held her breath for a second before letting it out, her eyes opening fully now, glinting in their triumphant manner, her mouth shaping to a confident smirk. She began to take a step, walking around the kneeling girl. "Seem's like you've been throwing a rather angry fit, haven't you..." [/color] Melina stopped once again in front of the 'woman' before her. She knew that this form was not the worst 'she' could turn into but did not want to underestimate the other before her. she had spent enough time in the darkness to think over this battle thoroughly and she did not want to under or overestimate the being before her. Just because this wasn't the worst thing 'it' could turn into, it didn't mean that it would be a harmless being. Upon judging how the other looked though, it was pretty ridiculous. The girl was bare of clothing, six wings hanging out her back and an aura that radiated even to the mortal eye. This would be fun. So engulfed in her misery, Merlina hardly sensed the multitude of crows dying and summoning her opponent. She felt some of the feathers brush against her skin and wings. The fallen angel looked up and saw, in all of her wickedness and demonic beauty, Melina. Melina's aura was intensely dark. The air around her seemed to suffocate all life unfortunate enough to enter it. Merlina knew how pathetic she looked. Her wings were closed and dragged against the wet ground, her legs covered in mud, her face and hands were covered with streaks of bloodied tears, her eyes were reddened from the weeping, and the rest of her body was exposed. She did not care though. How could she when there were much more significant matters to mourn over. The pain from her memories only grew upon the sight of Melina. It was as if Melina's presence called the attention of the darkness of a soul, only to tear through that soul's heart. At that moment, Merlina remembered Chernabog.. “Doth thee not feeleth anything from living so long in sin and pain?” Merlina asked through her despair. “Doth thee hath any idea what it feels like to, at one point, be a nation's moral pride then the world's worst nemesis?” Her tears began to form again. “This life, this cursed existence, what doth it mean to live if it only brings thyself and others pain?” Flashbacks of the Black Death she conjured struck her mind like lightning. Her intentions were good...She knew they were. To prevent future warfare, I wouldst make Europe eternally weak...never again able to raiseth war and empires. She never realized how persistent humanity is to destroy itself. Even through the plague, through the millions of lives lost, that damned war lasted nearly a century. Her heart just couldn't take the pain of ending millions of lives in vain...and so she banished herself, so that she could never again resort to plaguing the world with her magic. She swore to God, at the cost of death, that she would never again transform into Chernabog so that the dead may rest and that the world may never see another “demon” again. The plague and the demon...immense power that, in the end, fixed nothing.... Scum...yes...scum. One of the words that probably defined Merlina perfectly in her own mind. What other word could be used for someone who has done so much wrong with pure intentions? Pathetic? No, too mild. Toxic...yes, that would do just fine. Despite the use of a toxin, it will always result in pain and death. Yes, toxic would do just fine. Merlina wiped her eyes slowly, becoming more focused towards the upcoming battle. Her wings stretched as she began to get up from kneeling on the ground. The rain only began to pour harder...wiping away her bloodied tear-streaks and any dirt from her face and body. As if receiving approval from the heavens towards the oncoming duel, the rain washed away her evidential mourning. The Mistress of Evil...perhaps defeating her wouldst allow at least a few of my sins to be forgiven.Merlina's eyes began to take on a fiery tint as her own aura began to radiate against Melina's. The two auras began to cause small bolts of lightning. The molecules in the air were confused, knowing what magnetic pole they were in relation to these auras. The air around the auras began to flux, creating an image similar to humidity. She was ready. Her eyes narrowed and focused on the Mistress of Evil... “State thy rules.”
