Belinda walked silently into the candy store. She crept along the way. She wasn't sure why she was acting like she might get caught any second. Her mother was away for the weekend, and shockingly enough she hadn't made Belinda go with her. Belinda took this as a wonderful excuse to sneak to the city. But now she felt as if everyone that glanced in her direction knew that she was disobeying her mother's wishes, and she was going to get ratted out. But how could that be possible? She was asking herself in her mind. No one in this town even knew her mother that well, nor herself.
She meandered over to a display of huge lollipops. They were even bigger than her head. She wondered how even a small child, whom this store was aimed to sell to, could eat that. She made a face of amusement before moving over to another display of candy. She had to admit that this was her favorite store in all of Faraway. The fact that it was a store aimed to children made her feel embarrassed. I mean, what other twenty-one year old's favorite store was a candy store? It wasn't a common thing to say the least.
She smirked. Who cares what her favorite store here was? She was here, and she intended to spend the whole weekend here. Maybe even go to that dreaded Posion Pear place, or whatever it was called. She was trying to teach herself to be less "innocent", or whatever term you would use. It'd come to her attention through her most recent visit to the Pear place that she was such a child. So many things were foreign to her. She'd even begun to resent her mother a little bit because of the fact that she'd missed out on so many things in her life. All because her mother thinks she is some precious, little flower that needs to be put up on a shelf.
She sighed deeply, moving over to another display. She had to get herself depressed, didn't she? Whatever. She was going to enjoy her time here. Not act like a depressed teenager because "Mommy won't let me have what I want."

Wendy pushed a strand of hair behind her ear, as she pushed the box of chocolates back up on the shelf. It wasn't exactly her dream. Really it was no where near her dream to work two minimum wage jobs, but it was what it was. At least the candy store was fun. There were always kids there, and Wendy loved kids. They always liked to hear stories and were so much nicer than adults were, until it was time to leave or they didn't get exactly the chocolate that they wanted. She glanced at the notebook sitting on the counter, longing to get a few minuets where she wasn't working to write more on her story. She always felt bad stopping. It felt like leaving her characters frozen in midsentace.
She only glanced up for a moment when the young woman walked in. She looked Wendy's age, maybe a hair older, but close. Wendy didn't pay much attention to her at first, finishing stocking the shelves before really focusing on her. Her wide eyes and blonde hair gave the girl a little bit of innocence that Wendy felt connected with. She smiled at the girl, as she carried the empty product boxes in to the back of the shop. She'd imagined the girl would have picked what she wanted and been waiting at the counter when she returned, but the girl was slowly musing over the various colorful candies.
Wendy waited a few more minuets, fiddling with the loose strands of hair before she approached the Blonde. "Hi, can I help you find something?" she asked, folding her hands behind her. The girl had only to name the type of treat she wanted and Wendy would know where it was. "If you're not sure what you want, I would recommend Coconut M & M's. They're really good."

Belinda was still searching through the candies when she noticed one of the employees had smiled at her. She smiled back politely and nodded her head in acknowledgement, going back to searching through the candy when the girl had gone to the back of the store. She was still trying to force herself not to mope because she'd never gotten to do the things that city children do. She should just be happy with what she had. She had a home and loving- albeit over-protective- mother that gave her a lot. But it just didn't seem like enough sometimes.
She moved over to another display and picked up some random candies, not really reading what they were. She was pondering while absent-mindedly tossing some of the candy in the air. She had to get out and do this more often. She knew going to the candy store wasn't a lot of people's idea of partying hard, but it was enough for Belinda. She enjoyed it. Heck, if she could move here and get a job, she was having all sorts of fantasies of herself living in the big city.
Belinda was highly zoned out into her own thoughts when she heard a voice calling to her, breaking through the fog of her thoughts. She jumped, dropping some of the candy that she happened to be holding at the time. "Oh!" She exclaimed, bending to the ground to retrieve it. Finally realizing the question that the girl had asked her, she stood straight up and looked at her and smiled. "Oh, I'm really just looking. I find this place fascinating." She nodded her head as the employee gave her a recommendation. "Oh yes. I really like those. They're yummy." She paused, rocking back on her heels. She wished she wasn't so shy sometimes. "Ummm. I'm Belinda, by the way." She held out her hand in a greeting.
She might as well make a friend, right?

There was something odd about the slight girl that Wendy couldn't really name. She seemed a bit too awestruck with the candy store for a girl her age. Before the girls spoke, Wendy had been imaging what exactly had happened to this young woman to give her the attitude of a child. Though her benefactor had encouraged her to write darker stories, she couldn't place a dark story on to this girl. She was too… adorable. That was the only adjetive that Wendy could give this girl. Adorable. Like a puppy you just wanted to take home from the shelter. Or a little birdie that fell out of the nest, and you wanted to pick up and put back in the nest but knew its mother would abandon it if it smelled like a human.
"I'm Wendy Darling." Said Wendy Darling, shaking the girls hand. In the story in her mind the girl was probably some kind of royalty from a very foreign country. Perhaps an immortal princess, cursed to watch everyone in her life perish while she remained beautiful forever. That could explain her fascination with things. She may not have left her fortress in many, many years. Alright, that was a ridiculous story, but Wendy was feeling significantly less horror and more ridiculous today.
Belinda was obviously making an attempt to be friend, so Wendy felt like she should to. "I'm pretty new to Faraway. Have you lived here long? I think its nice enough. Most definitely and endless supply of interesting characters." She brushed her hair behind her ear. "What do you do? Other than admire delicious confections of course."

"Nice to meet you, Wendy." Belinda told her with a bright smile etched on her face. "I like that name." Belinda let go of her hand, taking a step back. Her eyes were still wandering around the store while Wendy was looking as if she was trying to figure Belinda out. She thought it would have to look weird for someone. A young adult being so enamored with a candy store. But she couldn't help it. She'd never really grown up. This store amazed her. She wished she could be more adult in the way that she thought.
She broke out of her daze when she heard Wendy speak again, asking her questions about herself. Belinda paused for a moment, thinking of what to say. Should she tell the truth about herself? Or should she pretend to have an entirely different life. Because, honestly. How many Belinda's could there be on the outskirts of the city of Faraway. "Well, I'm not really from the city itself. I live on the outskirts. It's not too far from here, but it's a bit of a walk." She told her, not thinking it would be right to lie to Wendy. "But I do agree with you about it and the people from what I've seen so far."
Her rare trips to the Poison Papaya has taught her that. "Well, when I make my trips here, I come here, obviously. It's my favorite place here." She paused, realizing how much she must have sounded like a loser. She chuckled once, sounding almost nervous. "I also will go to that Poison Banana place, sometimes. But it's not my most favorite place to go." She shrugged. All that place was to her was people getting drunk and trying to maul each other. It was a frightening thing to watch. "What about you? What do you do here?" She'd like to here someone who actually lived here's opinion of what's fun to do.
