Hello, Maya Gotin.
» Is there anything you would rather be called?
"Maya‘s just fine. But my column readers know me as Mother Goose."
» Great, now that we've got that covered. How old are you?
"A whopping twenty-four years old. But if you ask my readers, I‘m a loving, old, grandmother."
» You know, has anyone ever told you that you look exactly like...?
"Naya Rivera? Yeah. I‘ve heard that before. She‘s gorgeous. I take it as a compliment."

Let's talk about your personality.
» What are a few of your favorite things?
"Writing is my favorite past time. I write children‘s books, but none of those are published. Everyone knows that gossip is where the money is at. If I could get some of my children‘s books published though, I think that might make my life a bit more complete. Those works are like my own children. If you have gotten any idea from my career, I do love the gossip. It‘s not that I like ruining people‘s lives, because trust me darling, I don‘t. I just find it fun to hear what‘s going on in people‘s lives. Is that so wrong? You will hardly ever hear false information come from my lips. But that doesn‘t mean I won‘t write it. Shhh. You didn‘t hear that."
»That's interesting. Is there anything you absolutely dislike?
"I don‘t like being told how to write. I haven‘t been writing a successful gossip column since I was eighteen because I‘m mediocre. I think I know what I‘m doing, thank you very much. I don‘t like being given false leads. As I said, I won‘t speak anything false. If you give me the wrong information, prepare for a bitch out. Also, don‘t give me deadlines. I never make them anyway. My boss has learned this. “
» Hm, what is your greatest fear?
"That my gossip column will go down in flames, and I will essentially be called a failure by the entire journalism/writing community. Yes, that is a nightmare I have at least every other night. Another fear I have is that my publisher hates everything I write that isn’t gossip.Oh wait. That’s true"
» Yeah, that is scary. Do you have any dreams for the future?
"To be not only a successful gossip columnist, but also to be a successful, best selling, children‘s book writer. I‘m working on this one book write now, it‘s about a boy named Peter. My publisher hates it, of course. Whatever. Yes that is my dream. Thank you for asking."
» Wow, I hope you succeed. Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
"Thank you.
As for myself, I don‘t talk about myself. That‘s not what I do. I talk about other‘s lives. But I guess for this one time I can talk about myself for you. My story is everything to me. If I‘m trying to get information, it‘s almost as if I have eyes and ears everywhere. There‘s hardly anything I miss. I always get the story some way or another. It‘s honestly a shock that no one in my life has found out that I‘m actually Mother Goose. I mean, how dull can you get? It‘s kind of obvious. I mean, I don‘t want everyone to know who I am, but I just think it‘s rather obvious."

So far so good. Now for history.
» So tell me, where are you from? What did you think of it?
"I was born and raised in Kentucky. God I hated it. Luckily I was the gossip columnist of our High School newspaper, and my journalism teacher got me a job here in Faraway. Thank God. I didn‘t even have to go to college. It was like a dream come true. "
» Do you have any other family? Parents? Siblings? Extended? What do you think about them?
"My parents and younger sister are still living in Kentucky. My sister married some farmer guy. It was a very small wedding. I wouldn‘t want that. I‘m kind of ostentatious. I love them, but I had to get away from that life. I was made for big city living. Not the life of a farmer. I miss them a lot. But I guess I just have to deal. Maybe they‘ll come visit me sometime soon. Though, my parents didn‘t want me to go. So they refuse to come visit. They say big cities are of the devil."
» What is your worst memory/memories?
"The day my parents told me that they would never see me again. All because of my freaking decision to move to a big city. It really hurt me. I love my parents, and they just threw me under a rug and basically disowned me. I try not to think about it much. I bothers me too much. Whenever I think about it I throw myself into a tub of Ben and Jerry‘s and my work."
» What is your best memory/memories?
"When I completed my first children‘s book. I felt so accomplished. I was sixteen and young and so very ready for the world ahead of me. I thought I would be a major success then and there. Little did I know that my publisher would put me down for writing them every day. Oh well, you can‘t always get what you want, I guess. "
» Where are you now? What are you doing with your life?
"Writing the Mother Goose Gossip Column for Faraway Times. I enjoy it so much. It really is my passion just to write. So as long as I‘m doing something like that, I‘m content. I spend many nights alone trying to finish up work and even write more children‘s books. I write a lot of short stories and what not. On the rare nights when I go out, I spend them at the Poison Apple, people watching, trying to find my next story to write on. Trust me, you always find crazy characters in that place. It‘s like a story goldmine in there. "
