Al had definitely surprised himself this time. He was definitely excited about the planned reunion that Tins had orchestrated, but he didn't realize how much excited he was for it. A couple of hours after he and Tin had parted ways, he immediately went to the orphanage and though he was greeted with a rather cold stare- the headmistress nagging about how the Social Service was riding them to the ground because two boys had run away, threatening to get rid of their permits, blablabla- when he told them about what they were planning, naturally, they were rather excited.
And it wasn't just him they remembered, oh no. They remembered Tinsley rather well too. After she rose up to fame, the number of kids that were adopted spiked up, hoping that some of them might have undiscovered talents as well. Plus, donations and the budget that were given to them increased rather significantly, so how could they refuse. Though Tin was the real reason, Al would joke around later and tell her how he used his charm to make things work. He also managed to get a hold of the directory of the orphans that had stayed there back when he was still young, and he sent out letters to each of the individuals, of course, using the Neptune Hotel mail services, passing it off as a request by one of the patrons. Though he knew he didn't really need to send in the letters considering there was an ad in the paper, he still felt like it couldn't be just Tin to do all the work.
A couple of days prior to the event, Al made sure to get himself ready. Even though they had planned something casual and homey, he didn't want to look like he hadn't brushed up, trying to, at least, make a good impression. He had acquired himself a decent-looking long-sleeved shirt, together with some slacks and a tie, hoping to make himself more presentable, but now that he was here, he was regretting it. He had already rolled the sleeves up to his elbows, feeling the uncomfortable grip of the cuffs on his wrist, and he constantly found himself adjusting the tie around his neck. Taking another deep breath and noticing that the number of people that were now here, he smiled to himself. Looks like things were a success, at least so far. He was still lost in a crowd of unknown people. Sure, some of them looked familiar, but none of them really stood out enough.
He made his way to the buffet table, impressed by the array of choices that Tinsley had provided. It must have been great having all these at her disposal. Trying to just smile and feel glad at what was there, he took a plate and filled his with some of the dishes that he often saw at the hotel (and couldn't really pronounce), figuring that he wouldn't often have a chance like this until a long while. Finding a good spot by one of the pillars, he leaned on it, clutching his plate carefully as he chewed on a breadstick. He stood casually, just looking at everyone's smiling faces. It was a good call, the reunion. And he was glad that people were enjoying themselves and reminiscing the old times. Now, if only Al could remember their names.
