» Is there anything you would rather be called?
"Detective, or jist Basil if ye would'nae mind. Ah hate anythin' too formal. But nothin' too informal either, hm?"
» Great, now that we've got that covered. How old are you?
"Just turned thirty two. I don't look it, eh? My beauty secret? Well, it wouldn'a be a secret if ah told ye, would it nosey?"
» You know, has anyone ever told you that you look exactly like...?
"David Tennant. Good lookin' fella. Looks nice and smart."

Let's talk about your personality.
» What are a few of your favorite things?
"Pocketwatches. It's a bit of an obsession, really. I've kept a hold of ma father's since he passed it doon tae me when I was a wee'un. One o' the few things ah prize most these days. Canna beat a gid cuppa tea either - livin' so far fae home, it's always good to have a wee bit of it wi' me on ma travels. Same goes fer the rare ol' bottle of Glenmorangie - if a' could get paid in the stuff, I'd be one happy man. Ah'm not the kinda bloke who needs tae have many possessions, jist the simple luxuries in life will do. Oh and another thing, canna be forgettin' ma pipe. I play the violin, quite well too a' might add, though I don't often let people hear."
»That's interesting. Is there anything you absolutely dislike?
"Ahh, well ye see I canna stand people who hold grudges. Mind, I usually get most a' ma clients as a result of people havin' a wee vendetta of some sort so, I do benefit. I can be the temperamental sort, tae say the least, so tae anybody who pushes me to the limit, I will'na thank ye fer that. A' tend tae get quite hot-headed when other smart-arses try tae prove me wrong - as far as ah'm concerned, Basil is the only smart-arse in town, got it? Gid. Finally, there's only one dirty big rat a' truly hate, and that's Charlie Ratigan."
» Hm, what is your greatest fear?
"Becomin' a good fer nothin' has-been or being bested by Ratigan. A' honestly don't know what's worse."
» Yeah, that is scary. Do you have any dreams for the future?
"Aye, tae rid the world of people like Ratigan and regain ma status as the top Private Investigator of Faraway. My ego took a fair bit a' bruisin' when Ratigan came back on the scene."
» Wow, I hope you succeed. Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
"Not much tae tell, if ah'm honest, but I'll give it a shot; I'm "eccentric" accordin' tae my cleanin' lady, Mrs Judson. Weeeell, I suppose sleepin' in cupboards and fiddlin' around wi' experiments during the wee hours of the night might give anybody that impression. I have mood-swings, like most geniuses - all part 'n parcel of bein' a serious Private Eye. Ah'm intelligent though, so I make up for it. Been told ah'm pompous at times, but a' hardly believe that, psh."

"A' was born and bred in Glasgow, Scotland. Moved tae Faraway, across the pond, tae seek a better job and tae establish m'self as a top PI. Nowadays however, the streets of Faraway don't seem that different to the streets of Glasgow - both becomin' jist as rough and steadfast as each other. Crime rates soarin'...so much to do, so little time."
» Do you have any other family? Parents? Siblings? Extended? What do you think about them?
"I've got a brother back home, and a sister-in-law. I hear they've some kids too, but a' seldom see them, bein' so far away."
» What is your worst memory/memories?
"Ah'd rather not share this information."
» What is your best memory/memories?
"Solvin' ma first case. A' was damn proud."
» Where are you now? What are you doing with your life?
"Just livin' each rotten day as they come, dealin' with clients from both sides a' the tracks - money is money, an' I need the work. I've become a bit of a recluse lately, accordin' tae Mrs Judson. Drinkin' a lot more tae, and spendin' most days either juiced up or settin' fire to ma latest concoction."
