"For heavens sake! I paid $75 for that?!" "They call this, sevice?! I'd be better off eating beans from a can with the vagabonds in the streets!" "Hmph! I'm going to the manager to put in a complaint." "Ridiculous!" "Absurd!" "Codswallop!"
Standing there, shellshocked and feeling her knees go weak as they threatened to cave beneath her, Eilonwy Geraint - or "Lonnie" as was easier for her boss to pronounce - allowed herself to be pushed and shoved as the customers made their exit. Remaining firmly rooted to the spot, the golden-haired youngster sunk to her knees, her mind in over-drive as she attempted to process what had all went wrong. Chef Louis was going to murder her dead. Crawling under tables and ducking to avoid being stampeded to death by the shoes of outraged diners as they ran for the door, Lonnie wondered if it was at all possible that she could just stay under there and never come back out; because when she emerged, she knew she was in for it.
Noticing a tiny red trinidadian crab hidden safely inside it's shell to her left, she couldn't help but envy it. No hiding place would keep her from Louis' wrath after this; she would be fired, she just knew it. And all because she had been so clumsy. Being awkward truly was a crime at times. She just wasn't cut out for serving these posh people their dinners. She was an enchantress in training, for crying out loud! Why should she have to be the burden of such insufferable snots? They were honestly worse than Aunt Archen. Scooting closer to the little crustacian, she reached out her palm, laying it on the cold floor. The creature, as though sensing that it was safe, retreated from his shell and scuttled onto the palm, settling itself there contently.
"Sacré bleu!"
Swallowing back a lump in her throat, she tucked the little crab into her apron pocket and carefully began to crawl out from beneath the table, being sure to avoid the shards of shattered crockery which littered the floor; time to face the music. Staring up at her boss - a huge, moustached Frenchman with a face now as red as a beet - Eilonwy's eyes flickered a little and she flinched as he began to rant down at her in his native tongue; most of which, she couldn't understand properly.
"Please stop screaming at me. It was an accident", she tried to explain, but it only made him worse. Oh really, of all the fusses to make!
When it had finished, and Eilonwy was sure she still had her job, she watched as her boss retreated from the restaurant, still ranting to himself about tomorrow's reviews and - she had a sneaking suspicion - pinching a bottle of vino to drown his sorrows with. Picking up her brush, she began to clear away the mess that had been made that night.

Eve sat down quietly in her seat, musing over her cigarette. She didn't often go over at Monstrotti's, and normally, she wouldn't. It was a long drive just to get over here, and she didn't appreciate having to drive an hour's length just to sit in a restaurant, picking at buttered clams. If she wanted to do that, then she would have ordered from the tower and enjoyed the luxury of being at home. But since a friend had recommended the place, then she figured that she would try it out.
However, the current ramblings of the customers got her second guessing. After all, who wouldn't re-think dining in a restaurant when half it's customers had just stormed out. Still in thought, she crossed her legs, flashing a bit of skin to the man seated three tables to her right, before she ticked the cigarette butt unto the ashtray. Smoking always seemed to aid her when she felt like she needed to be focus on something. Turns out, it did make her more alert, in a certain way.
Flipping over the menu and shoving it away, she knew that she didn't need to see anything that they were going to offer. It was sad considering how the once high-profile restaurant, being given a 5-out-of-5 tomato rating by the Faraway Digest, seemed like it would soon run out of business. Clearly the new management hadn't been doing a good job with it. Eve pondered for a bit, thinking of acquiring the restaurant. Surely it could be profitable, given just a few tweaks. Maybe a little mood music, and a wider set of viands to choose from. At that moment, her thoughts were disrupted by the sound of french profanities emanating from the kitchen. Definitely new staff, if she decides to take over.
Waving her hand over to the nearest girl she could see, Eve called her attention, not bothering to be check whether or not she was an actual employee. "You there," she pointed at the blonde girl cleaning up the mess."What's the best thing you have here? Get me that, and if it feels like you just served me the left overs from weeks ago, then you start looking for a new job, sweetie."
She watched the girl intently, wondering how she would react to the whole thing. Smirking, she beckoned her to go, waving a commanding finger at her. She then picked up her cigarette stick and placed it in between her lips, taking one long drag before puffing out a cloud of smoke.

Sucking on her plump lower lip habituously, Eilonwy finished sweeping up the broken glass and china. Taking the sweeping brush and shovel into the back and discarding the pieces into the bin, the girl washed her hands and exited the kitchen as swiftly as she could - the other staff were arguing heatedly amongst themselves ever since Louis departed, leaving them without their Head Chef, and the blonde didn't wish to be dragged into it. She was already receiving notable stares from the other waiting staff. She was half tempted just to hang up her apron and give it all up for good.
However, a sharp female voice cut through the air like a knife and caught her off guard. Turning about slowly and pushing her long hair back from her face, Eilonwy peered over to the direction where the voice had come from to find a woman sitting alone and staring at her, menu in hand. Shifting slightly, she made her way over promptly - she appeared to be one of those classy ladies. The kind that very seldom dined in Monstrotti's, but the kind of customer that the management often hoped to attract to the restaurant. She seemed like she came from the big city too. Eilonwy couldn't help but notice her fancy - and clearly valuable - jewellery.
Reaching her hand into her apron and rummaging around for her notepad and pen, before feeling something sharp latch on to her finger, Eilonwy gave a slight squeak of surprise and drew her hand back quickly. She smiled apologetically to the middle-aged woman.
"Heh. I'm so sorry about that."
She tried again, this time taking out the tiny sea crab and holding out her palm, making it disappear with a flourish, as if by magic. Taking out her pad and pen now, her expression much more serious, she nodded to the woman and pondered for a moment as the she spoke. Catching the lady's demand, Eilonwy knitted her brows together; well, wasn't she fussy. Hmph.
"Oh, right. Well the Lobster Thermidor is probably our most pricey but popular five-star dish. Or we have the Oyster Stew, which has a Faraway Critic rating of four stars", she explained, personally feeling a little green at the thought, but remaining as sunny and placid as ever on the outside. "And pardon my saying, but you don't seem the type to settle for one of our meal deals."

The woman watched uneasily as the young girl made her way towards her. There was something about the girl that made her feel rather awkward to Eve. Nothing bad about her, to be honest. Just an air of quirkiness emanated from the girl. It reminded her eerily familiar of someone else with that kind of aura, but she chose not to even think about his name. She was still rather pissed at him, and just thinking about it would undoubtedly annoy her even more. The last thing the woman needed for some lowlife and treacherous apprentice to make her day worse than it already was having to dine in this cheap restaurant. Realizing that her temper was beginning to rise, she took a deep breath, calming herself down.
Interestingly, as she eyed the girl, he caught a different sense of being surrounding her. He watched as the little hermit crab emerge from her apron pocket, crawling rather slowly on her palm before disappearing. Eve was surprised. Did the girl actually know how to use magic? It wouldn't be unlikely, but it was rather...surprising. Interesting how similar some people really are.
Completely distracted, she forgot about wanting to place an order, her attention now shifting to the girl. And she had good manners too, it seemed. Definitely, she has an eye for class, knowing that she wouldn't be the type settling for anything like a value meal. Eve smiled rather maliciously, her thoughts racing all around her head.
"Well, thank you, my dear. It's very kind of you to note that. It is rather obvious that my type won't be caught settling for something like that" she let out a giggle, amused by the girl. "So, that thing you did with the crab...what is that? Don't tell me you know how to use magic too?"
She had hoped that she was someone lost or new to the world of magic, just so she could slowly pan out her plans and make them into reality. But even if she did serve another or if she was with a circle, that still wouldn't have stopped Eve from trying to get her clutches on the poor girl. She knew she should try and grab the opportunity with this one.

Catching the woman's malicious grin, the quirky blonde mistook it for genuine amusement and mirrored it toothily, both looking and feeling a little strange for a minute. Blushing, the corners of her lips twitched and her insane grin relaxed into a more natural smile. She wasn't the type to get shy, even if she was in the presence of someone who appeared so glamorous and possibly of high importance in her own part of town. Eilonwy had the gift of the gab, even if her soft, ethereal tone claimed otherwise. Softly spoken girls where not always the pushovers they appeared to be.
Awaiting the order, Eilonwy wasn't too surprised when the subject of the sea-crab cropped up; well wouldn't you find the whole vanishing act rather strange, if you were patiently waiting your dinner and it had happened right before your eyes? In the past, Eilonwy often made excuses for her tiny bursts of magic before non-magic beings. The most common being that she was a good magician and there was always an explanation behind her "tricks." She rarely ever blurted out the fact that she was an enchantress in training however - Aunt Archen didn't like people to know too much. Especially strangers.
However, biting down on her lip as she surveyed the woman before her curiously, little Eilonwy couldn't pick out any reason why telling the woman would be a bad thing. She appeared genuinely nice, if a little snooty about the meal thing. Who was she to judge a person, anyway? Besides, she could do with a little chat. She hated having these powers and no one to talk about them with. No one who understood or cared. Aunt Archen didn't show any particular interest, except when she was teaching - which was becoming less and less, Eilonwy had noticed - or when she was busy hiding her neice away from other folk.
"That? Oh it's just something I was born with. A gift, really that I've been fixing to expand on. My Aunt is my teacher", the blonde explained rather cryptically. She paused for a moment, raising her brow curiously, and before she knew it, had sunk into a seat opposite the woman. "You mean, y-you've met others? Like me?"

Eve caught a glimpse of the girl's interest as her eyes began to perk up at the mention of magic. The older woman wondered why she didn't catch the fact that this waitress held an uncanny ability within her. Maybe the rather sheepish attitude threw her off. Or maybe it was the overpowering stench of raw fish and other seafood that kept her from noticing. Regardless, it was all over and done with, and she had already took note of the magic user. She threw back the smile she had offered.Right from the time she had spoken, Eve knew she was different too. There was an aura of innocence and frailty in her tone, but she could tell that the girl had some spunk in her. It just had to be channeled properly.
The woman seeped in all the words that the girl was saying, and judging by what it was that she was saying, Eve seemed to have a very enticing proposal for the girl. She couldn't help but smirk at the thought of everything, especially if they went on exactly as she was planning them to. "Met others? Dearie, I am one of the others," she answered, whisking her hand over the table, causing the seat to pull back from its initial position, ready for the blonde girl to take the it. "Come on, sit."
Eve pointed over to the next waiter that she saw and beckoned him to get them some soda before facing the girl again. Her eyes showed remarkable interest in the girl, and it was true. She seemed...very workable. "A gift you're looking to expand on? As it should be! My child, you have no idea how right you are. Some people think of their magic as something to be feared or contained. I say otherwise. Is it not just like a natural ability one has? Like painting or playing sports?"
The woman curled her lips, tracing her tongue against them, as she began assessing the girl. Clearly she was eager to learn. Much like her other apprentice. It would be fun to see the two of them interact. Maybe even pit them against one another. Ahh, it would be glorious. Now, all she had to worry about was her current teacher. "Now, tell me more about this aunt of yours. Is she a natural sorceress or...?"
